Four months may not seem like a very long time, and it really isn’t. That’s how long I’ve been intermittent fasting now, and it really doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.
It is, however, the longest amount of time that I’ve ever been able to consistently stick with a weight loss plan.
I’m not one of those people who have lost 100 pounds (more than once) just to gain it all back again. I empathize strongly with those people, and I have lost 10-15 pounds several times just to gain it all back again.
But I think the longest I’ve ever been able to stick to any sort of weight loss plan was when I tried the Keto diet for a whole summer back in 2014.
I think I may have lost just over 15 pounds, until I found myself head first into a plate of chocolate chip cookies and was never able to stick to low carb for more than a few days since.
So, how much weight have I lost in four months of intermittent fasting? Drum roll please … 26.5 pounds! I am so very thrilled with that number.
Do I still have a long way to go? Yes. Are there other plans I could have followed that may have resulted in fast weight loss? If I could stick to them, sure, probably so.
But I can’t think of any other plan where I could have eaten literally whatever I wanted, just not whenever I wanted.
I’ve not only been able to stick with it, but I’ve lost the most weight that I can ever remember losing at one time.
My clothes are all fitting looser, my skin is as clear as it’s been in years, and I finally have the energy to get things accomplished without always feeling exhausted.
Best of all, I still feel like this is it for me, that I’ve finally found the eating plan that I can stick to forever.
That’s not to say that I won’t have to tweak it here and there, but I know that intermittent fasting is my way of eating.
I don’t dread fasting, I actually look forward to it. I don’t have to think about food all of the time or worry when I don’t strictly follow my plan.
Fasting is right there waiting for me when I’m done eating!
Currently I’m still following my own intermittent fasting schedule, which consists of eating OMAD (One Meal a Day) during the week, and then having longer eating windows on the weekends.
Lately I’ve even been taking a full day or two off on the weekend and having 10-12 hour eating windows, and I’m still losing weight!
Fitness wise, I wear my Fitbit and aim for 10,000 steps a day. It doesn’t always happen since I have a desk job, but it happens more often than it used to now that I have so much more energy from intermittent fasting!
Long story short, I really love intermittent fasting.
I can’t wait to see what another month will bring!
